Two Manuals, Ten Ranks
A.E. Schlueter Pipe Organ Company was selected for the restoration of the Pilcher organ facade installed at First United Methodist Church in Wetumpka, Alabama. In addition to the facade restoration, we also contracted for the numerous repairs and rewiring required to restore this organ to an appropriate level of operation.
The facade contains 27 speaking pipes painted in an elaborate pattern, typical of Henry Pilcher around the turn of the century. The pipes were brought back to our shop for repairs to remove dents and repair other physical damage. The paint pigments were carefully analyzed and patterns traced. The original pigments were matched, including the original gold leaf. After stripping and repairs were complete, each pipe was hand painted to reproduce the original patterns and colors.
